Tekken X Street Fighter Empty Tekken X Street Fighter

Post by Tobi Mon Jul 26, 2010 4:53 am

I'm gonna go ahead and create this topic so the Street Fighter X Tekken one doesn't get cluttered with discussion about this game. I'm honestly equally excited for this game as I am for the other one, if not moreso.

I'm interested to see how NAMCO will treat the Street Fighter characters in their more realistic (absence of fireballs and gravity-defying moves...for the most part) manner of play. 10-hit combos? Throws from the front, left, right, and behind? Speaking of throws, will Zangief have chains like King and Armor King do? So many questions, and I can't wait until they're answered Very Happy

I was asking about the fireballs in the Capcom discussion but I forgot about the other things that make SF unrealistic...or at least more unrealistic than Tekken. I really cant wait to see what Namco does but Im hoping they dont change the characters movesets bc then we're not really playing as the SFs but some crappy clones instead. Zangief without piledrivers? Ryu without Hadoukens?

What I'm really waiting for is the list of who will be in this game from SF.

Have you ever played Tekken? Marduk and King have grabs that are just as extreme as a Zangief piledriver. Devil Jin has lasers, other Mishima's have electricity, etc, etc. I mean, I don't expect to see Ken flying 30 feet into the air with a flaming uppercut, but seeing a light punch DP is definitely feasible.

I'm sure they'll pick the SF side of the cast wisely to respect their movesets. Expect more Gen and less Blanka

Devil Jin's laser is a little different than Ryu's hadoken. The laser is more of an instant attack, while the hadoken travels rather slowly across the level. I still see them taking it out to fight into Tekken's gameplay.

But yes, I see them choosing more realistic martial artists like Fei Long and Makoto over characters like Blanka and Seth.

This.

But then again Ryu's Hadouken would prolly be like Jinpachi's fireball.

I have but I am not anywhere near good lol. So no I've never actually seen their grabs since I usually play with Jin or Hwoarang. And I know the Mishima's have electricity for moves like Lightning Screw Uppercut and Jin's Avenger from Tekken 4 but as far as I know none of them are projectiles really nor do they act like real electricity like Blanka's does. Like I said I do play Tekken although the last one was Tekken 5 but I dont know everythin about it so I maybe wrong once again.

Then again, Jinpachi was a boss, so that's why he had a projectile.

Yea I know. Im just saying its not impossibly hard or never been done in a Tekken game. If anything they could always slow down the fireballs, making it slow enough for the opponent to dodge if they're quick enough but come out fast enough to be a combo ender as stated above.

This is how im expexting T X SF too play. (Ignore the big hyper moves & jumping around & focus on the combos they do.)
